20 free ways to save energy (plus, my witty banter!)

From Consumer Reports.

Really? Turn down your thermostat? That saves money?! Brilliant! (sigh).

Actually, a couple of these are pretty good. My favorite has got to be #13:

#13: Use the right pan. When cooking on the stovetop, pick your pan, then put it on an element or burner that’s roughly the same size. You’ll use much less energy than you would with a mismatched burner and pan. Steam foods instead of boiling. If you do boil, be sure to put a lid on the pot to make the water come to a boil faster.

[Enter Tangent] So, what do I do in my situation? I’ve got a stove with only ONE LARGE EYE- what manufacturer builds a stove with only ONE LARGE EYE?! Did Kenmore think that I’d only need to boil a water 1 pint at a time? Whatever. Now I’m venting. It’s probably because I worked until 12:30am on a Friday night.

Enjoy the hippie article above; now I’m just bitter.

Take two.

Ok, like this theme better? More like the original but a little more sleek/black.

Little Black Dress?

Ok, like the black or no? I’m just trying it on for size for a couple days.

Like it? Hate it? Leave a comment! I’m not going to take ANY offense since it’s a straight copy of the Hemingway theme. Right now the theme doesn’t have any flava ala moi. That being said, enough “Yea’s” and I’ll spend time getting it to look the way I want it. “No’s” will bring back the previous cjupin.com (remember? orange/brown/reddish colors with the charleston bridg header? You already forgot? Not good, not good….)

The Arrival.

It’s finally here! I realize that I ordered it only 12 days ago but it’s felt much, much, much longer than that.

Fiirst impressions? Love it- absolutely love it! I can’t WAIT to see what the mac pro can do….it’s going to be fun pushing it to the limit.

The mere fact that it’s 2am (on a Tuesday- well, Wednesday) night should tell you that. Although I can’t even begin to give a full review- I’ll just say this: it’s fast. And, not to mention that everything looks great on a 23″ screen. It’s more than I could have asked for…I’m a pretty lucky guy (my wife is beyond understanding).

Ok- off to bed. Work is going to be hard this week with such a big distraction sitting at home!!!
I’ll leave you with a couple pictures- more are available on my flickr site.

Frustrated.

Sitting in Ellenwood, GA

First, the arrival date moves back a day. Now, the computer is sitting (literally, sitting) at a hub facility outside the Atlanta airport.

Does anyone find it odd that it’s going to to take the SAME amount of time to go from California to Georgia (on a truck, mind you) that it will take to go 30 minutes? (from the hub to my house). AAARRRRGGGHHHH!!!

Ok, I’m done. Check back tomorrow for the (hopefully) unveiling!
