I can’t believe it…it’s finally ordered.

Behold- the Mac Pro:
Mac Pro- how glorius!

So, you want stats? Let’s talk stats. Actually, first things first. If you’re a non-geek please ignore the following paragraphs and just enjoy the pictures. For everyone else please read on….
Side view- internal

Dual-Core Intel Xeon up to 3GHz
IntelMac Pro offers the incredible power of two 64-bit Dual-Core Intel Xeon microprocessors — with 4MB of shared L2 cache per processor and 1.33GHz dual independent frontside buses. My configuration- dual 2GHz (that’s 4 processing cores).
2GB (667MHz DDR2 fully buffered ECC) RAM
Upgradeable up to 16GB (think I’ll hold on that for now)

RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB: to power that giant 23″ display (see earlier post). Did I mention that the Pro can handle up to 4 graphics cards?

Graphics CardDisplay

250GB Serial ATA 3Gb/s drive: probably more than I’ll need for a long time. But, then again, the Pro has room to grow since there are 4 harddrive bays.

Hard-drive

16x Dual Layer SuperDrive (DVD/CD Burner): I can’t wait to start “backing up home videos.”

Superdrive

Bluetooth wireless keyboard and mighty mouse: Because when you’re tied to a desk…you, probably…need mobility when you type? Whatever, it looks cool.

Wireless Mighty Mouse Wireless keyboard

Not to mention- with the education discount Anita will be receiving a free iPod Nano.

So, when’s homecoming? According to the order status page it will ship on Sept. 13th and delivered on Sept. 20th (oh yeah, I’ll be calling in “sick” that day).

Too much information? Probably, but that’s ok. I’ll be sure to give updates whenever fedex blesses me with a tracking #. Until then, keep checking back for more.

Yeah…that’s pretty cool. Although…I’d ask if you could substitute a 7800 or 7900 GT/GTX over that 7300 GT. The 7300 pails in comparison to the 7800 in terms of Graphics capabilities. However, seeing as how you can have FOUR of them…maybe it’s not as critical. Just some food for thought. I have the 7800 GTX and it’s still ahead of the curve and i’ve had it for over a year now.

Regardless, that’s a nice computer my friend. Very nice!

  2. Anita:

Yay!!!!!!!! Can’t wait for homecoming!! :) Love you!

  3. I agree Josh- the 7300 is a pretty run-of-the-mill graphics card but I am 100% sure it will meet my needs. I’ll probably play spore, sim city, and maybe even world of warcraft- which I’m fairly certain this card could handle. The next upgrades for the graphics cards (via the ordering site) were the ATI 1900XT but that was an extra $235 and the next was the Quadra for $1500 :-p. But, again, there’s expandablity for the future.

  4. Josh:

The only thing I can reccomend for you now is the Optimus keyboard. It would look superb with that monitor. It’s almost as though it was made for that computer. I want one, but unfortunately they are not out yet.
