Concert Review: Blue October

This past Friday I had the pleasure of going to see Blue October at the Roxy here in Atlanta. By far my favorite band of 2006. Alternative with songs that echo lost love, suicide, friendship, and hope.

The band is best known for the singles “Hate Me” and “Into the Ocean” from the album Foiled. The band was formed in 1996 and currently consists of Justin Furstenfeld (lead vocals), Jeremy Furstenfeld (drums, percussion), Ryan Delahoussaye (violin/viola, mandolin, keyboards, vocals), C.B. Hudson (guitar), and Matt Noveskey (bass guitar).

Check them out…NOW.

Concert Review: Carbon Leaf

This past past Wednesday I had the pleasure of seeing Carbon Leaf at Smith’s Olde Bar here in Atlanta. Great band to see live..they were grateful of the turnout (even with the weather turning to freezing rain). Some of my highlights included “Under the Wire” and the encore “The War Was in Color.” What’s even more impressive was the fact that the show started promptly on time (my history of going to see shows at small venues prepared me for a tardy performance and a later-than-planned evening).

In short- the band can play. When you have an accordion on stage that’s a recipe for a sure-thing in my book. From their calendar it looks like they’ll be in Austin tonight (Luke- go see them!). More about the band and discography here and here. And yes, they’re on iTunes.

I would do very bad things for this car.

Something stupid I will buy: Color Changing Weather Forecaster

Indoor/Outdoor thermometers are so 2006.

Color Changing Weather Forecaster from Oregon Scientific

The color of the base reflects the weather outside; actually changes to one of four colors depending on the weather forecast. If it’s sunny outside, it’ll turn red. If not, then pink if partly cloudy, green if cloudy and blue if it’s going to pour.

Oh yeah, it’s also a clock…(whoopee)

Dad got hosed.

Ha!
