Ships in February. I have been looking for the ideal way to create a media center in the living room. Other ideas included a custom built pc (blech), a mac mini ($$), or even rigging the tivo (I’ll never have those two days of my life back from getting that thing set up). Leave it to Apple to find a creative way to solve my problem (and take my money).

What’s the transfer rate like from your PC to the TV via this thing? I assume it’s a bluetooth connection? Anyhow…I’m jealous! Very cool and quite seamless it appears. That being said…I think I still favor a Mac Mini investment because I’m a PC guy and I don’t think this thing will like my custom built PC upstairs as it’s not Apple. =)
Actually, it connects to your home network (wired or wireless). For me it will be connected via the wireless network. The quality is near HD..streams video, music, pictures, etc all onto the apple tv. Also has a harddrive which makes it a little tv-like.
If I had a little more cash I would have pushed for an mac-mini. Now that they are intel as well it’d be a sure-fire bet.
The letter “i” gives me the chills now…
This TV thing looks neat too- can’t wait to have another gadget in the living room I won’t know how to operate! If I get stuck, I’ll just watch good old fashioned TV with only 1 remote in the guest room.
