Later this month I envision Barry (my MINI) turning over 25,000 miles. While that’s not even a 6th of some others it’s still quite a feat for me. I took possession of the car on September 23rd, 2005 - which averages to about 1200 miles a month (which is a little high for anyone in my family).
So, I was thinking…the car needs a little something for reaching this point. I’m thinking one of the following (funds permitting, of course):
OEM Rally Lights (for blinding SUV’s that cut me off)
Roof Rack (for whenever I get that bike)
JCW Leather Dash <sigh>
Or, I could just go a TOTALLY new direction and just buy the camera that I’ve been eyeing for over a year - the Nikon D80 - to take the pictures I’ve been wanting to take (and some of the car too, of course).
Of course, this is dependent on a lot of other things (paying off car insurance, saving for a house, 2 out of town weddings..man, that list is long).

When Roxy turned 25K, I got here an upgraded set of brakes. It wasn’t cheap, but man they are great!
Of course, an intake or exhaust is always nice too.
Yeah- a brake upgrade would be great but a little pricey- think just upgrading the pads might be a good compromise?
Speaking of exhausts- I saw a two-tone honda crx yesterday with a mellon-launcher for an exhaust yesterday near work. Even with the windows up, AC blasting, and radio on I still couldn’t drown out the sound- at 35mph!
ours just turned over 25k last week on the 4th of june and we took delivery on june 2nd, 2006. so far just an intake is all Ottobot has received…oh yeah, and a set of Kumho ASXs after suggestions from db.
congrats on the 25k! let’s race to 50k…starting now.
What about a tint job? I can’t remember the factory tint on your mini, but a good tint job goes a long way. It would compliment the black on the car already.
Power upgrades are always nice, and I like the idea of new breaks. They’re understated, but they’re always classy and add good performance.
My truck is about to tick over the 100k mark here soon. Nothing planned other than a tune up job and fluid replacements.
@ josh: You know I never thought about tinting the car…to be honest, I’d love to have the sunroof tinted a little more. New brakes seem to be the thing everyone’s talking about…I will say that the MINI does feel a little under- braked if you know what I mean.
@brad: You like the Kumho’s? I did enjoy the safety of the runflats but I hear nothing but disparaging comments about them…I realize that those and the s-lites make the car feel like a slug. Also, digging “Ottobot.”
I have no idea what any of this stuff means. New brakes sound neat though! (How do we do that?) So does tinting the roof. But know what’s cheaper than tinting the roof? New sunglasses….
I would say to treat Barry to premium gas for his 25k birthday but he already gets that! Don’t tell my car or she’ll get jealous. Sibling rivalry.

P.S. They make some special tint that keeps the car quite a bit cooler nowadays.
