2 Weeks With the iPhone

Tired of hearing about it yet? Tired of seeing it all over the news? Yeah, I bet you are. And to be honest- I’m a little tired of random people at the mall and coworkers asking to see and play with it (the phone). But I guess I should not complain- I have the phone that I’ve been wanting for a long time. I’ve been using an old Nokia 3650  that I found in a drawer (my old motorola V610 died…and truth be told was the worst phone I’ve ever had) for over 6 months now. I’m sure you are tired of people’s impressions so I’ll keep my short:

Pros:

Beautiful interface, sleek, great ipod functionality, internet is amazing

Cons:

A little expensive (hah), and having to switch to AT&T (formerly Cingular).

I’ve been with T-Mobile for a little over 5 years now and I’ve been very happy with them..and to be honest, I’m a little sad to see them go. Their customer service is first-rate (and about a zillion times better than my 2 year stint with Sprint…what a nightmare…And now Sprint is canceling troublesome customers contracts! BS!).  My contract is up in a month so a little overlap…

All in all I’m super happy with this phone. So fun to use, great functionality, and just an absolute pleasure. So, that is all you’ll hear from me about the iPhone- I know you’re a little overwhelmed.  (Oh yeah, check out some photos of and taken with the iPhone on my flickr).

Update: Still loving the phone! Here are some pictures:

I couldn’t help it- I got an iPhone!

Man, talking about being in the right place at the right time! I went to the AT&T store over at Perimeter at 5:55 and got in to get a phone at 7:30. One guy offered the guy in front of me $75 for his spot (he took it).

I’m activating it as we speak- but for the moment Anita snapped some photos…More to come, I swear!

On the fence

Well..today is in face July 29- and I think everyone in the world knows what that means.

I’ve been waiting for this for a long time…but, after reading several reviews I’m on the fence. What if the battery gives out? Do I want to shell out a minimum of $60 a month for 450 minutes (+ unlimited data)? Will this keep me from by the sure to be announced new ipod with fancy touch-screen controls?

I can’t stand it…to see everyone with their fancy new phones and I’m using this old clunker of a Nokia (from 2003- don’t even get me started on what happened with my Motorola V610). People are talking about this phone like it’s the second coming. In fact, I am a little sick of hearing about it on the news. I mean- people are dying in Iraq, there’s a presidential campaign ramping up and here we are swirling around a product that’s supposedly going to revolutionize the cell phone industry.

My friends and family know I am a gadget freak..and, they usually (if not always) allow me to give in to my wants. I just wonder if I’m being sucked into the hype, being shallow, or if I truly do need this new phone…

 Anyone have any thoughts?

Update: I found this story by the ajc..this little quote below makes me angry and sad.

”That phone is off the chain,” said Lewis, a 45-year-old who lives in Stone Mountain and works at a barber shop on Auburn Avenue in downtown Atlanta. She doesn’t own a computer but considers herself a gadget freak.”

Woman, you can’t activate the damn thing without a computer!? What songs are you going to put on there! What photos! AHHH!!!!

Safari on Windows

Steve Jobs just announced at the 2007 World Wide Developers Conference that the traditionally Mac native web Browser “Safari” will be available on Windows.  Bill just cringed. Continue reading →
