Man, talking about being in the right place at the right time! I went to the AT&T store over at Perimeter at 5:55 and got in to get a phone at 7:30. One guy offered the guy in front of me $75 for his spot (he took it).
I’m activating it as we speak- but for the moment Anita snapped some photos…More to come, I swear!

Well..today is in face July 29- and I think everyone in the world knows what that means.
I’ve been waiting for this for a long time…but, after reading several reviews I’m on the fence. What if the battery gives out? Do I want to shell out a minimum of $60 a month for 450 minutes (+ unlimited data)? Will this keep me from by the sure to be announced new ipod with fancy touch-screen controls?
I can’t stand it…to see everyone with their fancy new phones and I’m using this old clunker of a Nokia (from 2003- don’t even get me started on what happened with my Motorola V610). People are talking about this phone like it’s the second coming. In fact, I am a little sick of hearing about it on the news. I mean- people are dying in Iraq, there’s a presidential campaign ramping up and here we are swirling around a product that’s supposedly going to revolutionize the cell phone industry.
My friends and family know I am a gadget freak..and, they usually (if not always) allow me to give in to my wants. I just wonder if I’m being sucked into the hype, being shallow, or if I truly do need this new phone…
Anyone have any thoughts?
Update: I found this story by the ajc..this little quote below makes me angry and sad.
”That phone is off the chain,” said Lewis, a 45-year-old who lives in Stone Mountain and works at a barber shop on Auburn Avenue in downtown Atlanta. She doesn’t own a computer but considers herself a gadget freak.”
Woman, you can’t activate the damn thing without a computer!? What songs are you going to put on there! What photos! AHHH!!!!

It might not be as flashy as some of those other Wowwee creations, but it makes up for it with some pretty innovative wing-flapping action. Plus, for $50 it won’t break the bank. Just in case you missed it the first time around, Wowwee’s FlyTech Dragonfly is RC controlled up to 30 feet (apparently that 150 feet we heard before was quite a bit off), rechargeable, and built out of carbon fiber for living through the occasional rough landing or (hopefully) frequent dive-bomb attacks. The included controller sports a magnetic perch and charges the bot in about 15 minutes for 10 minutes of flight time. Inside the box there are a couple of extra sets of wings and a spare propeller. For the moment this one looks to be a RadioShack exclusive.
…and yes, I will probably buy this thing.

Indoor/Outdoor thermometers are so 2006.

The color of the base reflects the weather outside; actually changes to one of four colors depending on the weather forecast. If it’s sunny outside, it’ll turn red. If not, then pink if partly cloudy, green if cloudy and blue if it’s going to pour.
Oh yeah, it’s also a clock…(whoopee)
